JOLLY GOOD VAN HIRE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Driving Licence

Drivers must be between 25 and 75 years of age and able to produce a full, valid, British or international driving licence held for at least one year. All International hirers must provide a readable unexpired licence from their country of origin, if the license is not in English, an international driving license must be provided also. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that he/she has the appropriate driving licence. Our reservations agent must be informed of any endorsements on the driver's licence, as we may not be able to take your booking. No refunds will be given for rentals rejected due to nonproduction of a driving licence or non-disclosed endorsements. Please note that if you have a new photo card driving licence you will need to bring the paper counterpart with you. For more details contact the DVLA in Swansea on 0870 240 0009, faxed or photocopied licences are not acceptable.

Identification

All UK residents must be able to produce a recent utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months and a valid credit or debit card in the name of the main hirer. International hirers must be able to produce a passport and valid credit card in the name of the main hirer. All additional drivers must be present at the time of hiring and must be able to produce a full valid driving licence conforming to the stipulations above.

Travel outside of the UK

We do offer cover for customers to take vehicles outside of Mainland Britain at an additional cost, however due to Insurance restrictions a minimum age of 25 is required for drivers in vehicles travelling outside this area. Please contact us for further details** If you would like more information or a quote for driving our vehicles abroad then please contact us on 08453 727 727. **Please be aware that until approved by Jolly Good Van Hire, no vehicles can be taken outside of mainland Britain.

Excluded costs

Personal accident insurance. Additional driver requirements should be notified and paid for at the time of booking. Delivery and collection of your vehicle can be arranged, but may be subject to an additional cost.

Occupations

There are restrictions imposed by our insurer, which mean that we are unfortunately unable to hire to persons in certain occupational areas. These include professional entertainers, professional sports persons, publicans, nightclub owners, owners of gaming establishments, members of the foreign military and students.

Deposits

All clients must produce a valid credit or debit card in the name of the driver upon collection of the vehicle as a form of deposit. Cash or Cheque deposits are not accepted.

Insurance Excess

For standard vehicles, the insurance excess is £750. For our ‘Prestige’ vehicles the excess is £1000. When requesting an online quote, the appropriate insurance excess is displayed next to each vehicle. This excess is not taken in the form of a deposit, we will simply take a credit card imprint and ask that you give authorisation that, in the unlikely event of an accident, we may charge your card for the appropriate amount.

Provision of Vehicles

Please note that we can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is, in our opinion, unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances your contract with us will terminate immediately, and Jolly Good Van Hire will have no further liability to you.

Number of passengers

Our rental vehicles are insured for a maximum number of passengers. Jolly Good Van Hire cannot accept responsibility if the vehicle is not large enough to fit all passengers and luggage on arrival if details were not supplied at the time of booking.

Vehicle type / suitability

Jolly Good Van Hire is unable to guarantee a particular make or model of vehicle. The vehicle may be substituted for an alternative, similar or upgraded vehicle (at no extra cost). If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of the vehicle, you must advise us immediately in writing within 30 days of your return. The Company cannot accept liability where this procedure is not followed.

Jolly Good Van Hire are constantly updating our fleet, therefore we may hold two different models of the same vehicle including an older shape if the manufacturer has recently updated the look of the vehicle. Jolly Good Van Hire is unable to guarantee which shape of vehicle you will receive. We are also unable to guarantee the type of fuel your vehicle will use ahead of time.

Mechanical difficulties / accidents

In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accidents involving your vehicle, it is important that details are reported to us within 24 hours. You must also complete an accident form by the end of the rental period. Local police should also be notified in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. Full details of third parties should also be obtained. You should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event an insurance company is involved. Compensation cannot be considered when this procedure is not followed. A checkout form must be signed on return of the vehicle. Failure to do so may delay the investigation of disputes regarding insurance excess charges.

Congestion charging

Any vehicle movement into, out of or within the marked charging zone ("CCZ") between 07:00hrs and 18:30hrs (Monday to Friday), is chargeable at the rate of £8 per day. Only one payment per vehicle, per day is required, once the first payment is made, any number of journeys may be made that day into, out of or within the CCZ, by that vehicle. The payment of £8 must be made by 22:00hrs on the day the movement was made; otherwise the charge rises to £10. If that is not paid before midnight, a Penalty Charge Notice will be issued in the sum of £120 (discounted to £60 if paid within 14 days). If the charge is not paid within 28 days, the charge rises to £150. Further details may be obtained from Transport for London's website: www.cclondon.com.

Your Responsibilities

You must pay for any vehicle movement into, out of or within the CCZ, Where we make a delivery to you, within the CCZ; you must pay the £8. This covers the first day's Charge. All other days' charges, including the charge for the last day of the hire, are your responsibility. When you pay the charge, you will be given a receipt / transaction number for the payment. Please retain this number as you will need it in case of a dispute between you and Transport for London ("TfL") You can pay by phone, text, Internet, or pay - point, but you must pay on the day you used the CCZ. If you fail to pay, TfL will send you a Penalty Charge Notice. It is your responsibility to pay this Penalty Charge. If you fail to pay the charge on the day you used the CCZ, you will also be charged an Administration Fee by us.

Mini Bus Hire

Due to insurance restrictions we are unable to supply Mini buses to anyone with a licence issued outside of the UK. All drivers must be over 30 years old. If you did not pass your driving test before January 1997 your licence must show the D1 category. All licences must be clear of any endorsements, if you are unsure about any of the above then please contact our call centre on 08453 727 727. Our Mini buses cannot be taken outside mainland Britain.

Complaints

If you have a problem during your rental, please inform us immediately so that we can endeavour to put things right. Jolly Good Van Hire will not hold themselves responsible for the non-performance of anything that is beyond their control or when they are not notified of a problem at the point when remedial action can be taken. In the unlikely event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you should write to our Customer Services Department within 30 days of the issue arising. If you fail to take any of these steps this will hinder our ability to put any problem right and/or investigate it fully and any right you may have to receive compensation will be reduced or completely invalidated.

Additional Services

Additional Drivers are charged at £20 per driver per week or £5 per day for hires of less than 7 days. This is capped at 2 weeks and any further weeks additional driver cover is free. If you require additional drivers, they must be present at the time of hiring and are subject to the same restrictions as the main driver. Charges for additional drivers are payable locally on arrival.

Pricing fluctuations

Rental Charges are seasonal and may be subject to change without prior notice. All reservations received prior to a pricing change will obviously be honoured at their original rate.

International driving licences

Please note, all international driving licences must be backed up with a passport. If you hold a foreign driving licence you must contact Jolly Good Van Hire to check whether your licence is acceptable. The Hirer must possess, either a valid credit or debit card in their own name. No third party credit cards can be taken. Licences must have been held for a minimum of one year (If a new licence, both parts are required). Fully Inclusive rates

Jolly Good Van Hire vehicle rental rates are fully inclusive of unlimited mileage, fully comprehensive insurance and VAT.

Payment

All payments must be made by a credit or debit card. The card must be in the main drivers name. Cards will only be accepted if they are embossed and show the drivers name, Card Number, Expiration Date and Security Code. We do not accept payment from third party credit cards nor do we accept cash or cheque payments. If you are unsure about any of the above please contact us on 08453 727 727.

Cancellations / Amendments

All cancellations must be reported within 24 hours prior to the date of collection by calling 08453 727 727. Failure to do so will result in a £15 administration fee.

Deliveries

Delivery and collection requires a minimum of 5 days rental - Full address including postal code and a contact number are required. Delivery and collection times are not confirmed at the time of booking, only AM or PM. You must contact us at least 24 hours prior to the start date to confirm.

Fuel Policy

All vehicles are provided on a like for like basis. We provide the vehicle with an amount of fuel requesting that you return the vehicle with the same amount. Failure to do this will result in a charge being levied per 1/8th tank. E.G. Hiring a car with a full tank and returning with 7/8ths will result in a charge for 1/8th tank. This means that we will not ask for a fuel deposit when the vehicle is collected.

Traffic Offences

An Administration Charge of £40 + VAT will be levied per parking offence plus the excess Parking Charge (where necessary), Any Penalty Charges for Speeding/Road traffic Offences (Including Bus Lane Offences & London Congestion Charges) and any other Traffic Infringement charges.

General conditions

All bookings by our customers are subject to our terms and conditions as detailed on the Rental Agreement. No other terms, conditions and warranties, expressed or implied by law, custom and course of dealing shall form part of any contract between Jolly Good Van Hire and our clients except for those terms implied by law whose application is mandatory. The client acknowledges that in making a booking with Jolly Good Van Hire it does so only on the basis of the material contained in this document. All other statements or representations made by Jolly Good Van Hire, its employees, or agents are of no effect unless confirmed by us to the client in writing. You should satisfy yourself that you understand and agree to its terms and conditions as you will be subject to, and must comply with these terms. Jolly Good Van Hire reserves the right to levy any government increase in VAT that may be introduced after the production of this document. Jolly Good Van Hire liability to the client for any loss, damage, injury or accident whatsoever, whether arising out of negligence, breach of contract or any other cause shall not exceed £2000 or twice the invoiced price of rental of the vehicle concerned (whichever is greater) provided that nothing in this clause shall limit Jolly Good Van Hire liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Jolly Good Van Hire will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing wilful damage, off road driving or driving without due care and attention. The client will indemnify Jolly Good Van Hire against this in respect of such claims this list is not exclusive.
